Despite his advanced age for his profession and propensity for doing silly things that don't make him look tough, Snoop Dogg is perhaps the most well-known rapper in America. By that, I only mean that housewives in Peoria have heard of him, whereas they mostly know Kanye West as that loud guy who yelled at Taylor Swift. She seems so nice!
In addition to acting in movies about killer undead pimps, Snoop Dogg also loves basketball, particularly the Lakers. He is such a big fan, in fact, that he recently recorded "Purp & Yellow," a track about how the Lakers are sure to three-peat this season. It's not quite up to the high standards of his verse on Katy Perry's smash hit "California Gurls," but it's a pretty great song nonetheless. Just be warned that it's quite NSFW, just like a song about a fun basketball team should be.
Check it out after the jump.
My favorite line is probably "Swish! 24, thats black mamba/ Snoop Dogg, he’s a dope rhymer," both because it proves Snoop couldn't come up with a rhyme for "mamba" and because he acts like he is a member of the Lakers roster.
The track also features appearances by The Game and YG. During last season's playoffs, one of my friends sat next to The Game at a burger joint in Glendale. That event is not mentioned in this song, but I feel like it deserves a mention anyway. One day, perhaps you will have an indirect brush with fame, as well.
