Tayshaun Prince and John Kuester tangle in another Detroit loss

So far this season we've heard that Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey is not always smitten with the way that coach John Kuester runs the team. And, with Detroit down 25 in a seeming blowout to the Golden State Warriors last night, Kuester and longtime Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince got into it.

The confrontation started after Prince didn't fight through a double screen in time to stop Warriors guard Reggie Williams from hitting a 3-pointer that put the Pistons in a 25-point hole with 4:27 left in the second quarter. Kuester called a quick timeout and voiced his displeasure to Prince, who barked back at his coach on the bench. As the argument continued, Kuester motioned for a Pistons security official to remove Prince from the bench. Kuester started to walk toward Prince, but was restrained by assistant coach Darrell Walker.

Rip Hamilton replaced Prince, who spent the remainder of the half sitting on the bench with a towel over his head.

Darrell Walker was restraining people? The Darrell Walker I know would have probably lifted both Prince and Kuester over his head and shook them until they started apologizing, so things must have been really nasty between Prince and his coach.

The Pistons did improve their effort levels on both ends in the second half of this loss, and even had a chance to tie or win it in the waning seconds, but this? This isn't good. Prince should be fighting through screens (that whole team was lazy as hell in the first half last night), Kuester should understand that nobody likes to be berated in a 25-point game, and that roster is going nowhere.

Marc goes on to point out that Ben Gordon and Austin Daye have also had their issues with Kuester's tactical moves so far this season, and that the tension is building as Detroit limps through another frustrating season.

It should also be pointed out that the Detroit Pistons have worked up a 66-109 record (including playoffs) in the two years since personnel chief Joe Dumars traded Chauncey Billups for Allen Iverson (and needlessly extended Rip Hamilton's contract a few days later).

Also, they play the Lakers on Wednesday. So things aren't exactly looking up.
